the premier league
The PL is now three weeks old and it is about time to commence my weekly assessment of proceedings in ‘AS I SEE IT’
Let me start with Chelsea, a team I have supported since May 1964. Three great results but one can see a team in transition under new manager Maurizio SARRI. There is no doubt of Chelsea’s ability especially when attacking. Under SARRI this is clearly going to be more evident due to his philosophy. Reverting to aback 4 after playing with a 3 will obviously take a few games to get used to and also the fact that new players are being bedded into the playing eleven. We Chelsea fans are all looking forward to SARI-BALL and an exciting season. So what exactly is SARRIBALL?
Man. City as expected looks polished and even though they have already dropped 2 points are still my favorites to pip Liverpool to the title. City has a wealth of talent and under PEP it is difficult to see them falling too far behind.
On the RED side of Manchester the walls are shaking…2 defeats in 3 games similar to 1992-93 season when they went on to win the title. That will definitely not happen this season. Sir Ferguson is a man of greater character and coached players. Jose M. seems more interested in buying ‘ready made players’ and them realizing that they can’t play.
Tottenham did not spend a penny and many shouted that it would affect them. Well so far they have been excellent. A player or 2 to give them some depth would surely strengthen their squad, but in Maurico P. Tottenham have a brilliant manager, astute, tactically aware and in charge of a talented and capable team. Thanks for inflicting that defeat on….
Finally KLOPP…you must enjoy him..he has brought life to Merseyside in more way that one. What a character… What a Manager..he identifies the players he want and waits if he has to to get them, as he did in the cases of Naby Keita and van Dijk. He saw his problem between the sticks and the bought a world class keeper in Alisson. To Ronnie Clark ( EXTRATIME@VOB ) and all Liverpool fans I must say it is always enjoyable watching Liverpool play and if Chelsea fall short I’d be happy if you finish at the top of the PL.
